Larry McCloskey Photography

Travel is something I have loved doing since I was a child.  I grew up in a military family, and I was fortunate to live in many different places throughout the world before settling in the Bay Area.

I have lived in Novato for over 20 years and am a self-taught photographer. I have been shooting photos for over 30 years.

Some of my photos have been juried into the Marin County Fair.  In 2007 one of those photos won 1st place for alternative photography.

In the winter of 2007/2008 I was fortunate enough to travel to Paris and photograph many areas of this beautiful city.  Paris is one of the most amazing cities to explore and traverse with camera in tow.

I am so happy to be able to share these photographs with you.

Please enjoy these photos, and if you have any questions, you can email me at larry.mccloskey@verizon.net

"I have always loved to travel, and can be packed and away with a few moments notice. France is a marvelous country to explore. One can visit the entire landscape of human experience, from prehistoric cave paintings through Roman and medieval towns, to one of the most modern cities in the world. Paris sits in the center of Europe’s past and future, defining fine cuisine, global elegance, and a singular approach to enjoying life. La vie est belle!"

"Famous places have a powerful accumulated energy, echoed and enriched by each individual visitor. Sites are a repository for human memory and experience. I travel as a pilgrim, seeking expressions of magnificence, harmony, strength, and influence. As a photographer, I create images out of phantoms in the corner of my eye, working intuitively, determinedly, and decisively to communicate the beauty and power and presence of place. As a writer, I map terrain, scouting ahead, surveying, and returning with tales of adventure and discovery. Certain places can evoke a response in the visitor of a visceral recognition, the shock of recognition and remembrance. I am called to the journey. By traveling I find my way home."

Cindy A. Pavlinac is a fine art photographer specializing in images which convey the beauty, mystery, and power of place.
